'Indian 3' gets back on track; Kamal Haasan and Shankar to complete the film without pay

Kamal Haasan's National Award-winning film 'Indian,' released in 1996, was called the first pan-Indian hit of Tamil cinema. The film, which was directed by Shankar, wowed audiences across India. After this, 'Indian 2' was announced in 2017.

But due to various hurdles, the film was released in the theatres only after 7 years. Its delayed release created more expectations among the fans.

However 'Indian 2' failed to live up to expectations and was criticized as Shankar's worst film.

Failure of 'Indian 2' raised the doubt

Netizens heavily criticized and trolled the film's VFX and stunt sequences, while critics mocked the film's weak screenplay. Due to this, work on 'Indian 3,' which was already 90% completed, was stopped.

The production team also wondered whether to continue with the film. Although most of the scenes of the movie 'Indian 3' have already been shot, only the song and some key scenes were pending. Moreover, the production team was hesitant due to the failure of 'Indian 2.' At the same time, problems arose when Kamal Haasan and Shankar demanded salary for the remaining shooting.

Rajinikanth's involvement in reviving 'Indian 3'

Due to this, the 'Indian 3' project was put on hold.

However, 'Indian 3' is now set to revive as both Kamal Haasan and Shankar are reportedly ready to work without pay for the remaining scenes. As per Asianet, the main reason for this decision is said to be Rajinikanth. He has been involved in the talks and has brought the team together. This initiative is expected to give Shankar and Kamal Haasan a strong comeback.

A periodic patriotic drama

'Indian 3' is a prequel to 1996 'Indian', and the film will focus on Kamal Haasan's freedom fighter role as Senapathy. Kajal Aggarwal plays the major role, while the glimpse of the third installment that was attached in the 'Indian 2' climax received a better appreciation.
