The Indian junior women’s hockey team posted a 3-2 triumph over Belgium on Friday at Antwerp to extend their winning run to three on the bounce in the ongoing European tour.
Sonam, Lalthantluangi and Kanika Siwach all found the back of the net for the Indian unit, while Marie Goenns and Marte Marie cut the deficit for Belgium.

Sonam struck early in the game as India dominated the opening two quarters of the game before doubling down on the lead in the third quarter through Lalthantluangi. The hosts, however, clawed their way back into the game thanks to Goenns’ penalty stroke followed by another goal from Marte to level the game.
Kanika made her all-important strike on the back of a penalty corner count as she helped India retake the lead with just over six minutes left on the clock.
The Indian women held onto the slender lead to close out the game with aplomb, pushing their victorious streak to three on the trot.

Earlier in the day, the Indian women’s junior hockey team was grouped alongside Germany, Ireland and Namibia in the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup set to be held in Chile.
The biennial event has been expanded to 24 sides in the upcoming edition and will be held between the 1st and 13th of December.
