A 44-year-old Indian origin woman was arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina, the United States, on charges of allegedly slashing her husband’s neck with a knife following an argument between the two of them.
According to a report with WBTV, the woman worked as a teacher’s assistant at an elementary school in Charlotte and was arrested soon after the incident was reported on October 12.
The woman was identified as Chandraprabha Singh, the report claimed, and was accused of “unlawfully, willfully, feloniously" cutting another person’s neck, as per the arrest warrant.
It was unclear how badly the man was injured, but Singh was charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury, the report stated.
An affidavit said Singh was married to the victim, and that the alleged assault happened after her husband said she got frustrated that he had not cleaned the house.
According to the affidavit, she told investigators she accidentally cut her husband when she turned around as she was starting to make breakfast.
Her husband then called 911 and claimed Singh “was frustrated and purposely attacked him with the knife", the report claimed.
Singh was listed online as a teacher assistant for grades K-3 at Endhaven Elementary School in the Ballantyne area.
The report also quoted court records and stated that Singh was initially denied bond by a magistrate, but then had it set at $10,000 during an October 13 court appearance.
She was also appointed a public defender during the same appearance.
Meanwhile, the woman was released from jail, but was ordered not to have any communication with the survivor.
