Indian Reserve Battalion Jawan Shot Dead During Chhath Festival Leave in Bokaro

Bokaro: A jawan of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) was shot dead near Gai Ghat in Adarsh Colony under the Chas police station area on Monday night.The deceased was identified as Ajay Yadav alias Sonu of Yaduvansh Nagar.Bokaro SP Harvinder Singh said, “The victim, who was posted in Giridih, had come home on leave for the Chhath festival.”Police said preliminary investigation revealed that a heated altercation broke out between Balram Tiwari and Ajay over some reason, which is yet to be ascertained. Thereafter, Tiwari, accompanied by a few associates, went to a place near a Shiva temple on the Gai Ghat, where the victim was standing with his friends.

Tiwari allegedly opened fire, hitting Ajay thrice in the abdomen. Locals took Ajay to the Bokaro General Hospital (BGH), where doctors declared him dead.“A special team has been constituted to arrest Tiwari,” the SP added.The accused was also booked in 2022 for stealing a police officer’s motorcycle and attacking a police team when they searched his house. The accused was released from jail around three months ago, police sources said.
