Amid unrest in Nepal, a bus carrying 49 Indian tourists was allegedly attacked near Sonauli on the India-Nepal border on September 9, leaving several passengers injured.
According to the details, the attack took place while the group was returning from Kathmandu after offering prayers at the Pashupatinath Temple.
Commenting on the incident, the driver of the bus, Ramu Nishad, said that the mob began pelting stones without provocation.
“We were returning after darshan at the Pashupatinath Temple, when suddenly a mob surrounded our bus and attacked without reason," he told reporters.
“There were women and elderly people among the passengers, but the protesters did not care," the driver added.
The stone-pelting shattered windows and caused injuries, including to women and elderly passengers, it was known.
Authorities rushed the injured to a hospital in Kathmandu.
The Indian Embassy, coordinating with the Nepalese government, later arranged a special flight to bring the rest of the passengers safely back to India.
