INDORE: Displaying remarkable civic responsibility, the residents of Indore took charge of maintaining cleanliness in their neighbourhoods on Monday as sanitation workers celebrated 'Goga Navami,' their designated day off.Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava lauded the spirit of Indoreans, stating that the sight of locals picking up brooms and contributing to maintain the country's cleanest city status, even with thousands of sanitation workers on leave, truly reflects the character of Indore and its people's unwavering dedication to cleanliness. He also extended his best wishes on the occasion of Goga Navami.Under the banner of the "Swachhata Maha Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan" and the spirit of "Hum Bhi Swachhagrahi", a massive cleaning drive was organised across various locations in the city to honour the sanitation workers on their day off.In a show of solidarity and commitment, Minister for Urban Development and Housing Kailash Vijayvargiya, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava, MP Shankar Lalwani, IMC Health In-charge Ashwini Shukla, Water Works In-charge Abhishek Sharma Bablu, Corporator Rupali Pentharkar, Additional Commissioner Rohit Sisonia, along with other public representatives, dignitaries, social organisations, business associations, and NGOs, participated in a mega cleaning campaign in and around the Rajwada area.
They were seen sweeping the streets, setting an example for the entire city.Simultaneously, various organisations, resident associations, banking sector employees, and NGOs across different wards and areas of the city organised their own cleanliness drives, demonstrating a widespread commitment to keeping Indore clean. This collective effort showcased the deep-rooted sense of ownership and responsibility among the citizens of Indore towards maintaining their city's prestigious title as the cleanest in the nation.
