Industrialist Sunjay Kapur’s last rites to be held in Delhi today

NEW DELHI: The funeral of industrialist Sunjay J Kapur, who passed away at 53 following a heart attack during a polo match in the United Kingdom, is scheduled to be held in the national capital on Thursday evening. His final rites will take place at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground (Dayanand Muktidham), with family members and close associates expected to be present. Kapur, a prominent leader in the automotive industry and Chairman of Sona Comstar, reportedly suffered cardiac arrest triggered by a bee sting while playing polo in England. Known not only for his business acumen but also for his passion for polo, Kapur is survived by his wife Priya Kapur and four children: Samaira and Kiaan (from his previous marriage to actor Karisma Kapoor), along with Safira and Azarias. Earlier today, Karisma Kapoor, accompanied by Samaira and Kiaan, was seen at a private airport in Mumbai, all dressed in white. Karisma and Sunjay had married in 2003 and divorced in 2016, following a mutual separation filed in 2014. Karisma’s sister, actor Kareena Kapoor, along with Saif Ali Khan, were also spotted at the Mumbai airport. A prayer meeting in memory of Kapur is scheduled for June 22 from 4 pm to 5 pm at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi. The family’s note on social media mentions his mother, Rani Surinder Kapur; wife Priya Kapur; and all four children: Samaira, Kiaan, Safira, and Azarias.
