In a disturbing development in the ongoing Infosys video recording case, CNN-News18 has learnt that the accused, Swapnil Nagesh Mali, had allegedly recorded videos of another woman employee in the same washroom where the initial incident occurred.
Police sources confirmed that two videos of different women were found on the accused’s mobile phone, recorded in the very same washroom within Infosys’ Electronic City campus.
Meanwhile, the police were actively investigating Mali’s antecedents, including his four-year tenure at a company in North Bengaluru, to ascertain if any similar complaints were filed against him there.
Mali, 28, originally from Sangli, Maharashtra, had joined Infosys just three months ago as a Technical Analyst after completing his BE. He has reportedly been allowed station bail by the magistrate.
Working as a Senior Associate Consultant in the Helix unit of Infosys, Mali was arrested after a female employee discovered him secretly recording her in the restroom on June 30.
The victim, a Technical Test Lead, noticed a suspicious reflection and, upon investigation, found Mali attempting to record her with his mobile phone.
Her immediate scream led to his apology, but the situation escalated significantly when her husband learnt of the incident and urged her to file a formal complaint, emphasising the need for a police probe to prevent such miscreants from sharing obscene videos.
DCP Sara Fathima, Southeast Division, confirmed the registration of a case at the Electronic City Police Station and Mali’s arrest.
The mobile phone used for recording was sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for a thorough analysis, including the retrieval of any deleted content.
The incident, which took place around 11 am in Building 38, IQE wing of the Infosys campus, has raised serious concerns about employee safety and privacy within corporate environments.
The police continue their interrogation and investigation to determine the full scope of Mali’s activities and if more women were targeted.
Infosys has stated that they are aware of the incident, have taken necessary action against the employee who is now separated from the company, and are cooperating with law enforcement authorities.
