Spanish defender Inigo Martinez completed his move to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr from La Liga champions Barcelona on Sunday.

The 34-year-old centre-back made 71 appearances in all competitions for Barca after joining the Blaugrana from Athletic Bilbao in 2023,

Martinez played a crucial role in helping the Catalan side clinch the La Liga title last year in addition to the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa Del Rey in the previous season.

“Official Spanish defender Inigo Martínez joins #AlNassr as a free agent," the Saudi Arabian club said on social media following the completion of the move.

Martinez previously spent seven seasons with Real Sociedad after coming through their academy, before a six-year spell at Bilbao. Martinez has also earned 21 caps for Spain between the years 2013 and 2023.

Martinez’s departure will free up space on cash-strapped Barca’s wage bill.

Al Nassr finished third in the Saudi Pro League last term, with Cristiano Ronaldo finishing as top-scorer with 25 goals.

Kid Living His Dream

Paris Saint-Germain signed French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille on Saturday for a reported 40 million euros.

Club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi expressed his pleasure at the signing on the club’s website, stating that the 23-year-old had signed a contract until 2030. “I’m a kid who is living his dream," Chevalier commented.

Although Chevalier has been part of several France squads, he has yet to earn a senior cap. He notably performed well as Lille reached the last 16 of last season’s Champions League, especially during a 1-0 home win over Real Madrid and a 3-1 away victory against Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, PSG secured the Champions League, Ligue 1, and French Cup titles with Italian star Gianluigi Donnarumma as their primary goalkeeper, supported by Russian Matvey Safonov and Spaniard Arnau Tenas, who remain in the squad.

Chevalier is the second goalkeeper PSG have signed this summer, following the acquisition of Italian-Brazilian teenager Renato Marin. Sources close to the club have indicated that PSG sporting director Luis Campos assured Chevalier he would be the first-choice goalkeeper.

Chevalier is expected to be available for Wednesday’s European Super Cup match against Tottenham in Udine, Italy.
