Meta sets new rules for teen accounts on Instagram
Meta announced on Tuesday that teenagers on Instagram will now be restricted to PG-13 content by default, and they will require parental permission to adjust these settings.
Under the new rules, teen users will only see photos and videos comparable to content rated PG-13 in movies, meaning no depictions of sex, drugs, or dangerous stunts.
“This update includes hiding or not recommending posts with strong language, risky stunts, or content that could encourage potentially harmful behaviour, such as images of marijuana paraphernalia," Meta said in a blog post.
The company described the change as the most significant update since the launch of teen accounts last year.
