Norwegian club Bodo/Glimt caused a huge shock in the Champions League on Tuesday. They beat Inter Milan 2-1 at the San Siro and won 5-2 on aggregate to reach the last 16. Other teams that also qualified were Newcastle United, Atletico Madrid, and Bayer Leverkusen.Bodo/Glimt had already won 3-1 at home in the first leg. Inter, last season’s runners-up and currently top of Serie A, were expected to win easily at home. But Bodo/Glimt defended well and finished the job in the second half.

Jens Petter Hauge scored first after Inter made a mistake in defense. Hakon Evjen then made it 2-0 on the night, giving Bodo/Glimt a big 5-1 lead overall. Alessandro Bastoni scored once for Inter, but it was not enough.Bodo/Glimt are the first Norwegian team to reach this stage of the Champions League since Rosenborg in 1997. Their success is even more impressive because they are currently in their off-season. The Norwegian league ended in November and does not start again until March."For us it's been unbelievable. We knew it would be very hard against Inter who are a very strong team and played in the final last season," said Hauge.

Next, they will play either Sporting Lisbon or Manchester City in the last 16.For Inter, this is a big disappointment. Last season they reached the final but lost 5-0 to Paris Saint-Germain.Newcastle United also went through to the last 16. After winning 6-1 away in the first leg against Qarabag, they won 3-2 at home. Sandro Tonali and Joelinton scored early goals. Qarabag fought back, but Newcastle had done enough over the two matches.

They will now face either Chelsea or Barcelona."I think if you look at the score over the two legs it's been fantastic from the players even though today feels like a bit of a hollow win for us," said Howe.Atletico Madrid beat Club Brugge 4-1 at home after drawing 3-3 in the first leg. Norwegian striker Alexander Sorloth scored three goals (a hat-trick). Atletico won 7-4 on aggregate, they will play either Tottenham or Liverpool next."I'm not thinking about Liverpool or Tottenham, I'm enjoying today's game and being in the last 16 for another season is very important," Simeone told broadcaster Movistar.Bayer Leverkusen also qualified. They had won 2-0 away against Olympiacos in the first leg and drew 0-0 at home in the second leg. In the next round, they will face either Arsenal or Bayern Munich.
