Inter student throws her newborn from college building in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A murder case was registered against an Intermediate student after she allegedly threw her newborn baby from the second-floor washroom of her college building in Golconda on Tuesday.Local police said the 18-year-old girl developed labour pain early in the morning after which she went to the washroom of her residential college, where she gave birth to a boy. Fearing her family would come to know about it, she pushed the newborn from the ventilator shaft, which led to the boy’s death.Police said the college’s principal spotted the infant’s body on the slab of the building. After verifying CCTV footage, they zeroed down on the student. The student admitted that she was in a relationship with a relative and that neither her teachers nor family knew or suspect she was pregnant.The girl is undergoing treatment at a local hospital.Police registered a criminal case based on the complaint given by college authorities.
