The simmering internal rumblings in the Bidar district Congress seem to have come out into the open, as the leaders and party workers are reportedly feeling dejected of their senior leaders and accuse them of indulging in ‘adjustment politics’.
Former Minister Rajashekar Patil and former MLC Aravind Kumar Arali met AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala at Bengaluru airport and reportedly complained to him about the lack of support and coordination from the senior leaders in the district, calling for a complete overhaul.
Recently, the Congress leaders and party workers from Bidar district held a series of meetings at a private hotel in Bengaluru and Bidar after they raised a banner of revolt demanding accountability of the leadership.
Mr. Patil, without mentioning any name, accused the Congress and the BJP of having a ‘tacit’ understanding in Bidar district. Though the State is under Congress governance, the works of BJP MLAs and their party workers get cleared without hurdles, while the Congress workers were ignored in the district, he alleged. Mr. Patil said senior leaders in power had completely lost the trust of their workers and party members in the district.
He alleged that multiple posts were given to a single party worker and said that most of the employees appointed on contract basis in various departments were from Bhalki and Bidar taluks , which are represented by Forest and Environment Minister Eshwar Khandre and Municipal Administration Minister Rahim Khan.
Of the six Assembly seats in Bidar Lok Sabha Constituency, the BJP bagged four seats and the Congress managed to retain its two seats Bidar and Bhalki Assembly constituencies represented by Mr. Rahim Khan and Mr. Eshwar Khandre respectively.
