Patna: In a joint operation by Bihar Special Task Force and Chhattisgarh Police, an interstate criminal, wanted in robbery cases among others, was arrested at Nautan area in Siwan district near UP border late on Monday night, police said on Tuesday.Following an interrogation of accused Ashish Rai, alias Prince, the authorities also apprehended his accomplice, Bhanu Pratap Singh, alias Rajiv, from Siswan police station area in Siwan.According to police, among other cases, Rai, a resident of Khalwa, was wanted for the robbery of a white SUV and cellphone at gunpoint in Bango police station area of Korba in Chhattisgarh in July. Singh, a resident of Chhajwa, Andar, in Siwan and a clerk at a govt school, was identified as a member of an interstate gang involved in illegal trade of stolen two-wheelers and four-wheelers.The joint operation also resulted in the recovery of one motorcycle and five cellphones. “The initial crime, reported on July 4 in Korba, involved four unidentified criminals. Prince, a known criminal with over six cases of kidnapping, robbery and dacoity registered against him in Bihar and Delhi, was a key target in this investigation. The arrests mark a significant breakthrough in dismantling the interstate vehicle robbery racket,” the STF said in a statement.
