The Dundigal police, along with the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Medchal Zone, arrested an interstate narcotics offender transporting 120.17 kilograms of marijuana through Hyderabad towards Haryana.
Based on credible intelligence, the police teams identified a car moving from Dundigal towards Patancheru via the ORR service road. The vehicle was stopped at around 6 p.m. near Rotary No. 1 at Exit 5 of the Outer Ring Road.
“The driver tried to flee but was caught immediately. Upon inspecting the car, the police found 43 packets of marijuana wrapped in brown adhesive tape hidden in the vehicle’s rear compartment. The total weight of the seized ganja was 120.17 kilograms,” said Medchal DCP N. Koti Reddy.
The accused, identified as Sagar Pawar, 23, a lorry driver from Madbol in Gulbarga district of Karnataka, admitted during questioning that he was transporting the consignment from Visakhapatnam to Haryana. He revealed that he was working for an organised network. He also disclosed the names of four other individuals involved in the operation, who are currently on the run.
“Sagar Pawar was acting as the transporter. Devraj, based in Gulbarga, is the main supplier. Bajrang, from Hisar district in Haryana, is the primary receiver. Hanumanth Pawar and Rajkumar, also known as Raju, both from Gulbarga, serve as sub-peddlers,” explained the DCP.
