New Delhi: Apple is now just a few days away from introducing iOS 27 at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference 2026, and in some recent reports, it indicated that some older iPhones might be reaching the end of the software upgrade road.

Apple is expected to announce the next-generation iPhone operating system during the WWDC keynote on June 8, where it will also unveil iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and other software updates. Apple is expected to drop support for several older iPhones.

iOS 27 will continue to support the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16 series, alongside the recently unveiled iPhone 17 series and the third-generation iPhone SE. Users of unsupported devices are still expected to receive security updates for iOS 26 for some time, even though they will miss out on the latest features that are going to be introduced with iOS 27.

Apple has not officially confirmed the compatibility list, but the shift would follow Apple’s usual pattern of dropping support for the older hardware as newer software becomes more demanding. Some older iPad models might also lose support with iPadOS 27, though details remain unclear. Apple has already confirmed that macOS 27 will mark the end of support for Intel-powered Macs.

The update could bring a dedicated Siri experience that behaves more like ChatGPT, enabling users to have more natural conversations and complete complex tasks via voice commands. Apple is stated to be working on deeper AI integration across system applications, by including Camera, Photos, Waller, and Shortcuts.
