at the company’s annual developer conference

WWDC 2025

. The recently announced iPadOS 26 comes with Liquid Glass design, an advanced windowing system, and deeper Apple Intelligence integration. The company also confirmed which iPad models will support the update. It's important for users to note that while many features will be available across all supported models, some of the more advanced capabilities, particularly those powered by Apple Intelligence (like Live Translation), will require newer iPad models equipped with an M-series or A17 Pro chip.

Users eager to experience iPadOS 26's innovations, such as the "Liquid Glass" design, a new windowing system, and deeper Apple Intelligence integration, will find their devices supported if they fall within the following list:

  • iPad Pro (M4)
  • iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later)
  • iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later)
  • iPad Air (M3)
  • iPad Air (M2)

  • iPad (A16)
  • iPad (8th generation and later)
  • iPad mini (A17 Pro)
  • iPad mini (5th generation and later)

Unfortunately, the iPad (7th generation) is the only model supported by iPadOS 18 that will not receive the iPadOS 26 update, marking the end of major software support for this particular device. For all compatible iPads, the device will need to have at least an A12 chip.The first developer beta of iPadOS 26 is available now, with a public beta launching next month. The final release is expected later this year
