Apple unveiled the next-generation iPadOS —
iPadOS 26
at the company’s annual developer conference
WWDC 2025
. The recently announced iPadOS 26 comes with Liquid Glass design, an advanced windowing system, and deeper Apple Intelligence integration. The company also confirmed which iPad models will support the update. It's important for users to note that while many features will be available across all supported models, some of the more advanced capabilities, particularly those powered by Apple Intelligence (like Live Translation), will require newer iPad models equipped with an M-series or A17 Pro chip.
iPadOS 26: List of compatible iPad models

Unfortunately, the iPad (7th generation) is the only model supported by iPadOS 18 that will not receive the iPadOS 26 update, marking the end of major software support for this particular device. For all compatible iPads, the device will need to have at least an A12 chip.The first developer beta of iPadOS 26 is available now, with a public beta launching next month.
