Samsung takes a dig at Apple with this three-year-old tweet

Apple unveiled its iPhone 17 series at its biggest event of the year 2025. The company announced four iPhone models – all-new iPhone Air along with iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Taking a jibe at Apple, Samsung took to microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) where it quoted its three year-old post. Samsung poked fun at Apple by writing, “#iCant believe this is still relevant,” while sharing an old tweet that said, “Let us know when it folds” — a clear jibe at Apple for not having a foldable phone. Samsung unveiled its first foldable phone in 2019, while Apple still falls behind in the race. According to reports, Apple may launch its first foldable iPhone in the second half of next year.

In a note to clients (via CNBC), JP Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee said earlier this year “With the upgrades to the iPhone 17 series to be released this fall expected to be fairly limited, investor focus has already turned to the 2026 fall launches with Apple expected to launch its first foldable iPhone as part of the iPhone 18 lineup in September 2026”.

The note further stated that Apple's foldable iPhone may feature a book-style fold similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series.

As mentioned above, the new iPhone models consist of iPhone Air, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apple’s 2025 iPhone lineup now comes with a 120Hz refresh rate on all models, a feature that was earlier limited to the Pro versions. The company has also brought back the aluminium frame design for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.All four models — iPhone Air, iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max — include a 48MP Fusion camera and start with 256GB storage. Apple has also announced India pricing and pre-orders for the new iPhones. The 2025 iPhone lineup comes with a starting price of Rs 82,900 and goes up to Rs 2,29,900. The smartphones will go on sale on September 19 with pre-orders starting September 15.
