A 21-year-old youth died in an accident during while celebrating the victory of RCB in the final of the IPL championship, in Shivamogga on June 3 night.

Abhi, 21, a resident of Venkatesh Nagar, died after the bike he was riding was hit by another bike near Ganapati temple on 100 Feet Road.

He was celebrating RCB’s win in the IPL tournament along with his friends. The youths with him took him to the nearest hospital after the accident. However, by then he had succumbed to injuries.

Jayanagar Police registered a case.

Celebrations in Shivamogga

Hundreds of youths hit the streets of Shivamogga on June 3 night after the RCB team won the IPL tournament. Fans of the team burst crackers and raised slogans praising the team and, in particular, Virat Kohli.

Many roads in the heart of the city were busy at midnight. People gathered at a few traffic junctions. Fans gathered in huge numbers at Gopi Circle. The police had a tough time handling the crowd in the night. At times, they resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the mob to enable smooth movement of vehicles.

A majority of the hotels and clubs in Shivamogga were full in the evening. A few hotels had announced special offers to mark the occasion, and screened the match live at dining places.
