Iran-US-Israel War Ceasefire, Peace Talks In Islamabad Live Updates: Crucial negotiations between the United States and Iran in Pakistan have reportedly reached a stalemate, with both sides clashing over control of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz—a key sticking point in efforts to end the West Asia conflict.
It is learnt that disagreements over reopening the waterway have stalled progress. Iran has maintained that it retains sovereign control and reserves the right to levy transit tolls, rejecting proposals for joint oversight.
High-level talks involving US Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner with Iranian officials, including parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, lasted two hours before a break. Discussions focused on reopening the strait and extending a ceasefire to Lebanon.
Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei stressed that progress hinges on Washington avoiding “excessive demands” and respecting Iran’s rights. Talks also covered the nuclear issue, sanctions relief, war reparations, and a complete end to hostilities.
