Iran Will Never Have A Nuclear Weapon: JD Vance After US-Iran Reach Peace Deal

JD Vance said the agreement would ensure that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon and could usher in a new era of stability and economic cooperation across the region.

US Vice President JD Vance has hailed the newly announced peace agreement between the United States and Iran, saying the deal has the potential to “fundamentally transform the Middle East for the next 50 years" if Tehran abides by its commitments.

Speaking to Fox News, Vance said the agreement would ensure that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon and could usher in a new era of stability and economic cooperation across the region.

“Vice President JD Vance said the agreement with Iran had the potential to “fundamentally transform the Middle East for the next 50 years" if Iran complied with the deal. He said the agreement would ensure that Tehran “will never have a nuclear weapon," including by preventing Iran from “pursuing, procuring or trying to buy one.""

The remarks come after Washington and Tehran reached a peace agreement aimed at ending more than three months of conflict and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil shipping route.

Vance also said the Trump administration was finalising plans for the official signing ceremony scheduled to take place in Geneva on Friday.

“Speaking to Fox News, Vance said the Trump administration was still figuring out who would attend the signing ceremony on Friday in Geneva. “I certainly plan to be there, but it’s possible the president himself could be there," he said."

‘US Iran Peace Deal Could Create Great Opportunities In Middle East’

Highlighting the broader regional implications of the agreement, Vance argued that the deal could create opportunities for greater cooperation between Iran, Israel and Arab nations in the Gulf.

“What the president has done is created the real space to transform that region cooperation between the Gulf Arab allies and the Israelis, and now hopefully a new era with with the Iranians! This is just a great thing for the American people!" Vance added.

He also linked the agreement to energy prices, saying a reduction in tensions across the Middle East could help stabilise global oil markets and lower costs for American consumers.

“I know that they suffered from high gas prices. The president has certainly been very concerned about that fact. But what we’re going to be able to do is drive down the cost of energy, not just now, but for the long term, and create a real engine of prosperity in the Middle East where Americans benefit from those lower energy prices, lower gas prices, and we don’t have the same risk of chaos that we’ve had for the last generation."

The United States and Iran have agreed to a peace deal aimed at ending a four-month-long war that severely disrupted global energy supplies, pushed crude oil prices above USD 100 per barrel, and raised fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East.
