He claimed that the players respect Billy Donovan a lot.
Paul George reveals that Billy Donovan struggled to fit Carmelo Anthony into the Oklahoma City Thunder’s plans
Long before they finally took home their first NBA championship since moving to Oklahoma City Thunder, the team had more than enough talent to go far in the postseason. However, to acquire Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, they had to part with Paul George. Now, the NBA player pondered on those days and spoke openly about his experience with the team. He also discussed why his chemistry with Carmelo Anthony and Russell Westbrook didn't reportedly work out.
On All the Smoke, he revealed that:“Melo sacrificed. Melo wasn't the issue. Billy had a plan for Russ and I, then right at the last minute, we got Carmelo. So now Billy's like, 'I don't know how to incorporate him. Y'all were my two guys, Melo's just gonna have to find his way.'"
After just one season, Carmelo Anthony signed with the Houston Rockets in free agency. Meanwhile, Paul George once defended Billy Donovan in front of the media. In 2014, many people started criticizing the coach and his role. The NBA player then went on to say that Billy Donovan continues to enjoy a great degree of respect from the player.

He said:“No one’s going against Billy.. He’s given us an incredible game plan all season long. There’s a high level of respect for his position and what he’s wanting from us. There’s no line of disrespect at all toward what Coach wants us to do.”Meanwhile, as of now, Billy Donovan hasn’t addressed these allegations.
