Is the Nintendo Switch 2 now available on Amazon?

The gaming world recently welcomed a new record setter, the much-hyped Switch 2. Within just 4 days of its formal launch on June 5, 2025, the console managed to move 3.5 million units, becoming Nintendo's fastest-selling console by far.

More than 3 million units were said to have shipped on launch day, further entrenching Nintendo's multifaceted presence. With new features such as online voice and video chat methods, and with next-generation hardware improvements, Switch 2 looks to be more of an overhaul rather than a simple successor.

A Complicated Wait in India

While gamers in the U.S., Europe, and Japan have begun to explore portable play of the new level, Indian fans find themselves with a very complicated wait.

Nintendo has yet to officially release its Switch 2 in India, leaving fans in the lurch as far as price and purchasing options. Meanwhile, in the absence of an official release, the grey market has been quietly filling that space.Amazon India is now listing the Nintendo Switch 2 at a ridiculous markup of ₹75,999, almost twice the U.S. MSRP of $449 (roughly ₹37,000).

No official release was announced, and so Switch 2 games have been trickling into Amazon India. Hogwarts Legacy is retailing at about ₹4,000, with pre-orders opened for Donkey Kong Bonanza, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land (Switch 2 Editions). From the U.S. listings, these are being offered at top dollar ranging from $69.99 to $79.99.

For Indian gamers eager to get their hands on the Switch 2, the grey market appears to be the only avenue, but there is risk involved.

Warranty may be an issue apart from the high prices. Nintendo's international warranty usually excludes India, which means that buyers will have to go-it-alone in case of damage or defect. Besides, the after-sales services are barely enough to support the customers.

Is It Worth It?

The Switch 2 brings cool upgrades and new games that'll keep you hooked for hours. But if you're careful with your money, it might be smart to wait for it to hit Indian stores. Nintendo's been slow to focus on India in the past, but with sales through the roof and more people wanting their products, it could happen sooner rather than later.
