he Indiana Pacers’ season is hanging by a thread, and the concerns surrounding Tyrese Haliburton’s health have taken center stage ahead of a pivotal Game 6 in the 2025 NBA Finals.

After appearing visibly hampered during Indiana’s Game 5 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, a fresh update from an NBA insider has added more questions to an already tense situation. The Pacers' star floor general is battling what could be a significant lower leg issue. The Indiana Pacers get a major Tyrese Haliburton injury updateAs Game 6 draws closer, the Indiana Pacers find themselves staring down a 3-2 deficit, but the fans are also watching anxiously as Tyrese Haliburton fights through what NBA insider Shams Charania revealed to be a possible calf strain.

“Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton is believed to have suffered a strained right calf and will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the strain, sources tell ESPN,” Charania reported on X.

Haliburton, who sustained the injury during Game 5, was noticeably sluggish, yet he refused to give in to the pain. Despite discussing the idea of sitting out the remainder of the contest with head coach Rick Carlisle at halftime, Haliburton pushed through the discomfort to return in the second half.

“It’s the Finals, man. I’ve worked my whole life to be here and I want to be out there to compete, help my teammates any way I can,” he said.

Though his impact on the scoreboard was minimal, finishing with just four points on 0-for-6 shooting, Haliburton’s leadership and playmaking still gave Indiana a fighting chance. “Just trying to keep pace in the game, impact whatever way I can,” he explained. “Just trying to get P [Siakam] the ball in the right spots.

Try to get the ball to guys in the right spots if I can.”But it was clear he wasn’t at full strength. Carlisle admitted as much postgame, noting, “He's not 100%. It's pretty clear. But I don't think he's gonna miss the next game. You know, we were concerned at halftime, and he insisted on playing.”At one point, Indiana narrowed the gap to just two points after Pascal Siakam’s deep three capped a spirited 11-3 run. The crowd at Paycom Center was stunned.

Still, the Thunder ultimately pulled away, aided by several turnovers, including two from Haliburton, that extended their lead to 16 in the final minutes. Carlisle, reflecting on the rotation decisions, said, “Yeah, it’s always a consideration,” when asked why backup T.J.

McConnell wasn't reinserted earlier. “But I haven’t gone through the entire game and completely analyzed the whole thing.”The Pacers’ fate now hinges not just on execution but on Haliburton’s health.

The 25-year-old admitted he’s unsure whether the issue is related to the earlier “lower leg thing” he dealt with earlier in the series, but confirmed it's “the same area.”Still, his focus hasn’t wavered. “If I can walk, then I want to play. It is what it is. Got to be ready to go for Game 6,” Haliburton said, reinforcing his commitment. “The thought is if you lose, the season is over. So our backs are against the wall. You have to look at game six like it’s a game seven.”Siakam, who delivered a monster performance with 28 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and relentless effort, backed his teammate wholeheartedly. “He’s a fighter. He’s been our rock all year,” Siakam said. “He’s a big reason why we’re here. I don’t know exactly what’s wrong, but I know he’s fighting and he’s going to give us everything he’s got. We are 100% behind him.”Also Read: Indiana Pacers hit with unfortunate Tyrese Haliburton news in Finals Game 5 against OKC ThunderThe Pacers will need all of that fight, and then some, as the series returns to Indianapolis on Thursday.
