Is Vicky Kaushal quitting alcohol and non-veg to prepare for his next film, ‘Mahavatar’? Deets inside

After the success of 'Chhaava,' Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for another grand mythological drama titled 'Mahavatar.' Directed by 'Stree 2' filmmaker Amar Kaushik, the upcoming film is reportedly based on the life of the warrior sage Chiranjeevi Parashurama — one of the revered avatars of Lord Vishnu.

According to reports, Vicky is making significant lifestyle changes to prepare for the physically and spiritually demanding role, including giving up alcohol and non-vegetarian food.

Vicky’s spiritual prep for ‘Mahavatar’

As per a report by Bollywood Hungama, both Vicky Kaushal and Amar Kaushik are approaching Mahavatar with complete devotion and focus. “A film like Mahavatar requires complete focus, and the duo have decided to give it all to make it a pure spectacle for the cinema-going audience.

They have decided to quit non-veg food and will begin their prep for the film with a grand pooja ceremony towards the middle of next year,” an insider revealed. The source further added that while Amar Kaushik has already given up these food habits, Vicky will adopt the same sattvic lifestyle after completing the shoot for Love and War. “It’s his way of showing respect to the part of Lord Parashurama,” the insider explained.

Reports suggest that 'Mahavatar' will go on floors towards the end of 2026 and is being planned as a large-scale theatrical release in 2028.

Ranbir Kapoor follows a similar path

Interestingly, Vicky Kaushal isn’t the only Bollywood actor embracing a sattvic lifestyle for a mythological project. Ranbir Kapoor, who will portray Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited 'Ramayana,' has reportedly quit alcohol and non-vegetarian food as well. According to media reports, Ranbir is following a strict sattvic diet, focusing on early morning workouts and meditation to align with the spiritual essence of his character.

On the work front

Meanwhile, both Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor are currently collaborating on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated 'Love and War,' which also stars Alia Bhatt. The film, described as an intense romantic drama set against a war backdrop, is expected to release in theatres in 2026.
