ISI agent arrested in Jaisalmer; recorded videos of BSF, Army movements and shared them with Pakistani handlers

JAISALMER: Rajasthan Intelligence on Tuesday arrested an alleged ISI agent, Mushtaq Ali, from Nachna in Jaisalmer district for allegedly spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and sharing sensitive strategic information related to India's security.The arrest was made by a joint team of the Technical Cell of the State Special Branch, Jaipur, and the local Border Intelligence Police from the Khariya border area near Hingolo Ki Dhani village under Nachna police station limits.Additional director general of police (Intelligence) Prafull Kumar said that CID Intelligence Rajasthan continuously monitors espionage activities carried out by Pakistani intelligence agencies in the state. During surveillance, intelligence inputs revealed that Mushtaq Ali, son of Nabi Baksh, aged 26, a resident of Hingolo Ki Dhani in Khariya village, Nachna police station area of Jaisalmer district, was involved in suspicious activities and remained in constant contact with Pakistani intelligence handlers through social media platforms.According to officials, during joint interrogation at the Central Interrogation Centre in Jaipur and examination of data retrieved from his mobile phone, it was found that Mushtaq Ali had allegedly been in contact with Pakistani handlers for nearly two years.

Investigators found that he was instructed to open a shop along the main road leading towards the border and use it as a cover to monitor the movement of Border Security Force (BSF) personnel and Indian Army units. He allegedly observed troop movements, recorded videos and photographs, and shared them with Pakistani handlers.Inspector general of police, State Intelligence Branch, Vishnu Kant, stated that the suspect was also allegedly collecting and transmitting other information of strategic importance in exchange for money, which could affect national security.After evidence reportedly confirmed that Mushtaq Ali had shared strategically sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence operatives for financial gain, Rajasthan Intelligence registered a case against him under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and formally arrested him on June 16, 2026.The investigation is continuing, and intelligence agencies are examining the extent of the information shared and any possible network linked to the accused.
