Actor Rhea Chakraborty has spoken about the emotional impact of the difficult phase following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death during her appearance on Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi’s chat show Double Date. She appeared alongside her brother Shovik Chakraborty.

The siblings discussed their 2020 arrest by the Narcotics Control Bureau in connection with a drug-related investigation linked to the case.

Shovik Chakraborty on life before the incident

Shovik Chakraborty spoke about his earlier ambitions and how his life changed unexpectedly. He recalled his academic goals and structured career path before the incident disrupted everything. He said, "Chapter 1 was completely opposite. I was this nerd who was trying to get into an MBA college, either IIM or Wharton.

IIM was even a better option," and added, “Then everything went south. No one can predict these things.

Life just takes you completely by surprise," He described how an unforeseen turn of events altered his trajectory completely.

Long recovery period

The siblings shared that rebuilding life after the incident was a long and difficult process. Shovik noted that it took several years to stabilize emotionally and mentally. He also spoke about ongoing triggers that continue to affect him.

He said, "I still have PTSD. Sometimes a random doorbell rings and it takes me back. There was so much chaos at that time that every doorbell made us feel like someone was coming after us," He added that even today, certain moments bring back memories of that period.

Rhea Chakraborty speaks on trauma

Rhea Chakraborty opened up on the psychological impact of the experience and how it continues to stay with her. She explained that trauma does not disappear completely and becomes part of one’s emotional system.

She said, "It's not something that you can truly get over. It's trauma. It stays in your body, if not in your mind.” She further added that healing requires continuous effort and support. She said, "As like Shovik was saying, there's PTSD.

You do your therapy and you deal with it." She described recovery as an ongoing process rather than a fixed endpoint.Rhea also spoke about how their experience unfolded under constant public attention, which made the situation more intense and difficult to process. She noted that while the past remains a part of their lives, they continue to move forward despite emotional scars.Rhea Chakraborty's last movie release was the 2021 thriller 'Chehre'.
