An Italian model and entrepreneur was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend inside her Milan apartment.

According to police, neighbours heard screams and cries for help before alerting authorities, who found the 29-year-old Pamela Genini dead in her home.

Investigators said Genini had been stabbed 24 times. Her boyfriend, 52-year-old businessman Gianluca Soncin, was found at the scene after reportedly attempting suicide. He was taken to a nearby hospital and has since been charged with murder aggravated by stalking, premeditation, and femicide, Italian newspaper Il Giorno reported.

Witnesses told police they saw a man storming into her apartment from a neighbouring building moments before the attack. One neighbour recalled hearing Genini screaming “Help! Help!" before the fatal assault.

A close friend of Genini told police that she had been unhappy in the relationship and was planning to end things with Soncin, with whom she had been involved for about a year.

Beyond modelling, Genini was a co-founder of the swimwear brand SheLux and ran a luxury real estate business. She gained popularity after appearing on the Italian reality dating show “The Island of Adam and Eve", where contestants appear nude.

Soncin, a wealthy entrepreneur, has a prior criminal record. In 2010, he was arrested by Palermo’s financial police in a probe that dismantled a cross-border ring accused of selling luxury cars at artificially low prices and evading taxes through false invoices.

The Milan police are continuing their investigation, questioning witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage to establish the sequence of events leading up to Genini’s killing.
