Jammu and Kashmir Police have dismantled an inter-state terror network linked to JeM and AGuH, arresting key operatives.

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday said they have busted an inter-state terror module linked with terrorist oranizations Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH). In a statement, the police said that in a major counter-terrorism operation, J&K Police dismantled an inter-state and transnational terror module linked with the proscribed organizations JeM and AGuH.

“The operation has led to the arrest of key operatives and the recovery of a massive cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives during coordinated searches in J&K and other states,” the police said. Giving details, the police said that on Nov 10 multiple JeM posters were found pasted at different locations in Bunpora, Nowgam, Srinagar, threatening and intimidating police and security forces. Following this, the police filed an FIR under different sections of the UAPA, Explosive Substances Act, and Arms Act at Nowgam Police Station, Srinagar. During the investigation, the police said they uncovered a white-collar terror ecosystem involving radicalized professionals and students in contact with foreign handlers operating from Pakistan and other countries. “The group has been using encrypted channels for indoctrination, coordination, fund movement, and logistics. Funds were raised through professional and academic networks under the guise of social and charitable causes.”

The police said the accused were involved in identifying persons to radicalize, initiate, and recruit into terrorist ranks, besides raising funds, arranging logistics, and procuring arms, ammunition, and materials for preparing IEDs. The police have arrested Arif Nisar Dar alias Sahil of Nowgam, Srinagar; Yasir-ul-Ashraf of Nowgam, Srinagar; Maqsood Ahmad Dar alias Shahid of Nowgam, Srinagar; Molvi Irfan Ahmad of Shopian; Zameer Ahmad Ahanger of Ganderbal; Dr.

Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie of Koil, Pulwama; and Dr. Adeel of Kulgam. “Additionally, the role of a few more individuals has surfaced and they will be traced during the ongoing investigation. Searches were conducted at multiple locations by J&K Police in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal, and Shopian. Similarly, J&K Police also conducted searches in Faridabad in coordination with Haryana Police and in Saharanpur with UP Police.” “The investigation so far has led to the recovery of incriminating documents, electronic devices, arms, ammunition, and IED-making materials.” The police said they have recovered one Chinese Star pistol (along with ammunition), one Beretta pistol (along with ammunition), one AK-56 rifle (along with ammunition), and a Krinkov rifle. The police also recovered 2,900 kg of IED-making material, including explosives, chemicals, reagents, inflammable materials, electronic circuits, batteries, wires, remote controls, timers, and metal sheets. “Financial investigations regarding the flow of funds are ongoing, and all linkages are being traced and addressed expeditiously. This investigation is a testimony to the diligent efforts and unflagging determination of the concerned team.
