Jaishankar Speaks With Afghan Minister Over Earthquake Tragedy: 'India Stands By Afghanistan'

A massive earthquake shook Afghanistan on Monday, leaving over 800. A relief and rescue operation has been launched by authorities.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday held a telephonic conversation with Afghan counterpart Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi and expressed condolences at the loss of lives in the earthquake.

He also informed that India has delivered 1000 family tents to Kabul, and 15 tonnes of food aid are being moved from our mission in Kabul to Kunar.

He further added that more relief material will be dispatched from India starting tomorrow, and wished for speedy recovery of the injured.

“Spoke with Afghan Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi today. Expressed our condolences at the loss of lives in the earthquake. Conveyed that India has delivered 1000 family tents today in Kabul. 15 tonnes of food material is also being immediately moved by Indian Mission from Kabul to Kunar. Further relief material will be sent from India starting tomorrow," wrote Jaishankar on X.

“Wish early recovery of those injured. India stands by Afghanistan at this difficult time," he added.
