Jaldega bandh after BJP leader dies 'due to lack of emergency care’

Gumla: Jaldega block headquarters of Simdega district on Thursday witnessed a bandh after the demise of BJP leader Rameshwar Singh.Singh could not get timely treatment due to a lack of emergency medical care facilities, including oxygen, and the absence of a doctor and medical staff at the community health centre, Jaldega.

No doctor was present, family members and locals alleged.Activist Subhash Sahu said, “Singh was welcoming Dwarika Peeth Shankaracharya Swami Sadanand Saraswati at Jaldega on March 2. Suddenly, he fell ill. He was taken to Jaldega CHC, but there was no doctor or senior nurses. Also, there was no oxygen and other emergency medical services. So he was rushed to Sadar Hospital, Simdega, located 50 km away from Jaldega. We were next told to take hime to Shanti Bhawan, a private hospital some kms away.

Doctors declared him dead.”
