At least six people have lost their lives as torrential rain lashes Jammu and surrounding areas for a third consecutive day. The incessant downpour has caused major rivers, including the Tawi and Chenab, to flow above the danger mark. One reporter described the situation as "unprecedented rainfall." The severe weather has resulted in landslides and mudslides, forcing the closure of numerous roads like the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. A bridge has also collapsed in Jammu amid the swelling waters. In response to the escalating crisis, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has called an emergency meeting in Srinagar. The Indian Army, police, SDRF, and NDRF are conducting rescue operations in inundated low-lying areas.
