Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum district administration has launched the ‘Ullas Mitra’ campaign to collect donations from citizens, social organisations and institutions so as to help epilepsy patients in their treatment, meet their nutritional needs, and provide them with social security.DC Karn Satyarthi said, “Epilepsy patients require proper nutrition, along with regular treatment, to lead a normal life. The funds will cater to the needs of the patients who belong to the economically weaker sections of the society.”District civil surgeon Dr Shair Pall said, “Ullas Mitra is a part of Project Ullas, which was launched by the district administration in October 2025 to screen, diagnose, identify, and administer proper treatment to people suffering from epilepsy.”“There are no funds alloted for epilepsy patients under govt health programmes,” he added.A screening camp was organised at Patamda block on October 10, 2025, under Project Ullas. Out of the 1,560 people screened at two health camps organised in Patamda and Ghatsila in the past three months, 967 were found epileptic. The next screening camp would be held at the Chakulia community health center on February 2.
