Jannik Sinner is back on top of the tennis world.

The 24-year-old Italian capped off a stellar season by defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6(4) in the final of the Rolex Paris Masters on Sunday, clinching his fifth title of 2025, and with it, reclaimed the World No. 1 ranking.

It was a match loaded with high stakes. A win for Sinner meant returning to the summit of men’s tennis; for Auger-Aliassime, victory would have secured his spot at the ATP Finals. But from the first ball, Sinner was relentless, dictating rallies with laser-sharp precision and a cool composure that’s become his trademark.

“This one means a lot," Sinner said courtside. “It’s been a long year — some challenges, some amazing moments — but to finish like this, it feels special."

The Italian’s triumph marks his first-ever Paris Masters title and his first ATP 1000 crown since Shanghai last October. He now heads into next week’s ATP Finals in Turin leading the pack, having racked up titles at the Australian Open, Wimbledon, Beijing, and Vienna earlier this season.

Sinner’s return to No. 1 comes after Carlos Alcaraz’s early exit in Paris, ending the Spaniard’s brief reign atop the rankings. The two young stars have traded blows all year — Alcaraz’s win at the US Open saw him dethrone Sinner in September, but the Italian has now struck back, setting up a thrilling showdown for the year-end top spot in Turin.

For Auger-Aliassime, the loss stung, but his run to the final has all but secured his ATP Finals qualification. The Canadian has rediscovered form in 2025, re-establishing himself among the world’s elite with consistent deep runs.
