Under the bright lights of La Defense Arena, Jannik Sinner became the Paris Masters 1000 champion and took over the World No. 1 ranking from Carlos Alcaraz. The Italian beat Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6 to clinch his first title in the French capital. With the win, Sinner extended his unbeaten streak on indoor courts to 26 matches, with his last loss going back to the 2023 Davis Cup.With a flawless performance in Paris, Sinner became the first player to win a Masters 1000 title without dropping a set since Alcaraz did so at Indian Wells in 2023.His return to World No. 1 on Monday also tightened the fight for the ATP Year-End No. 1. Sinner now trails Alcaraz by only 1,050 points in the ATP Live Race to Turin, ensuring their duel will be decided at the ATP Finals, where Sinner is the defending champion.Auger-Aliassime’s strong run to a second Masters 1000 final has boosted his prospects for ATP Finals qualification. The Canadian has moved up to eighth in the Live Race, holding a 160-point edge over Lorenzo Musetti, and will aim to secure his spot at the ATP 250 in Metz next week.
Although Auger-Aliassime fought hard in a tight second set, Sinner broke through in a clean tie-break to claim his fourth tour-level title of the season. Building on earlier wins against the Canadian in Cincinnati and the US Open, Sinner now leads their head-to-head 3-2.
