The Indiana Pacers finally defeated the Knicks, and reached the NBA finals. This was the second time that Pacers defeated the Knicks, which is a big thing in itself. Now that the team is closer to that trophy, another trouble looms over their head.
While the fans and players were dancing in excitement after entering the finals, they failed to see how severely injured their forward Jarace Walker was. As per coach Rick Carlisly, Walker will have to miss the first two games of the finals.
Rick Carlisle confirms Jarace Walker won’t be appearing in the finals
The Indiana Pacers’ coach Rick Carlisle, appeared on The Fan Morning Show 107.5, hosted by james Boyd, on Monday, for an interview. During the interview, Carlisle confirmed that the Pacers forward, Jarace Walker will be missing the first two games of the finals."He's going to be out for a while. I don't know how long. He certainly will not play in the first two games of the Finals.”
Walker suffered from a severe ankle injury during the New York Knicks versus Indiana Pacers match on Sunday. In the fourth quarter, Walker attempted a defense move in which his right ankle twisted in a complicated way. He was immediately taken to the medic, and was out for the rest of the game..Though the Pacers won the match and are headed towards the final drive with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Walker won’t be in the starting line.
When asked about the severity of Walker’s injury, Carlisle didn’t say much. It seems like the Pacers are keeping the injury updates behind curtains. However, it has been made clear that Walker will not be playing the first two games of the final series, which will take place on June 6, and June 9. Though Carlisle has confirmed that the chances of Walker returning to the court by Game 3, which will happen on June 12, is high, nothing can be said for sure. This is the second time that the Indiana Pacers have reached the NBA Finals. The last time it happened was in 2000, so it is a big thing for the club and fandom. On the other hand, the Oklahoma City Thunders will be entering the finals after thirteen long years.
