'Jatadhara': Sudheer Babu shares the real-life inspiration that led to the making of mythological horror thriller

Actor Sudheer Babu is gearing up for the release of the mythological horror thriller 'Jatadhara', sharing space with Sonakshi Sinha in a key role. The film includes the themes of good versus evil and greed versus righteousness.

Recently, the actor opened up about the story and inspiration behind the film.

Clash between belief and the supernatural

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Sudheer Babu talked about the film's premise. "Imagine there's buried gold and a pisachini (demoness) is protecting it. And there's a ghost hunter, played by me, who doesn’t even believe in ghosts. Certain situations make these worlds collide," he explained.

The actor also shared that 'Jatadhara' is much more layered than it appears.

"It was a very exciting film for me to shoot because it is multi-layered and has more depth than it initially appears. I am sure the audience will have a fresh experience," he shared.

Inspired by real-life events

Sudheer revealed that parts of Jatadhara's concept are inspired by real incidents from his childhood in Vijayawada. He recalled growing up during a rough time when the assassination of politician Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga led to riots, forcing people to hide their valuables in their backyards.

About 'Jatadhara'

Directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, the film stars Sudheer as a skeptic who doesn't believe in ghosts, but his beliefs are challenged when a powerful spirit named Dhana Pisachi, played by Sonakshi Sinha, is accidentally awakened.For the unversed, Sonakshi Sinha marks her Telugu debut with the film. Her look in the film has been one of the talking points of the film. She is seen as a powerful and demonic entity with menace and divine energy. Her appearance includes fierce, dark, and otherworldly aesthetics, which include elaborate makeup and traditional jewelry with a mythological touch.The movie will be released on November 7 in Telugu and Hindi.
