ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler informed cyberspace that New York Jets 25-year-old safety Andre Cisco is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair a pectoral tear. The fifth-year safety suffered a torn pectoral muscle in the fourth quarter of the team’s first win of the season, which was against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
Tony Adams, who was recently benched, replaced Cisco in the game. Cisco, who started every game for the Jets, and played 98% of the defensive snaps, now may see his 2025 season come to an end. The Jets’ first win after seven consecutive losses, came with a crucial loss. It is the start of their bye week, which they will likely spend looking for a replacement. It is no wonder a fan expressed, “Jets can’t catch a break.”

Who will take safety’s place in the Jets?
If Cisco’s season is over, New York may need to look for replacements in the secondary.
Veteran safeties Tony Adams and Isaiah Oliver are listed as backups on the Jets depth chart and may see more action when the Jets return from their bye week in Week 10 against the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium. 26-year-old Adams has recorded 182 total tackles, 1 sack, 11 pass deflections, and four interceptions in his three-year-long NFL career.
29-year-old Oliver has amassed 327 total tackles, 3 sacks, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 39 pass deflections, and three interceptions in his seven-year-long NFL career. The Jets also have a rookie safety on their roster—Malachi Moore–whom they picked in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft as their 130th overall pick. He accumulated 80 tackles and four interceptions playing cornerback and safety at Hewitt-Trussville High School. During his college career at the Alabama Crimson Tide, he collected 214 tackles, seven interceptions, and 2.5 sacks.
Head coach Aaron Glenn on rookie Malachi Moore
Talking to Brian Costello of the New York Post, coach Glenn detailed Moore’s play, “Malachi Moore, he’s a guy that we identified in the draft that can do a number of things. He can play safety, he can play nickel. I’ve said this before, he reminds me of a guy, Brian Branch, that I had, and you see those traits on the field. You see the play that he made on the deep ball, which was a critical play for us, and he has the ability to be able to see that.
I’m proud of where he’s at. He’s still an ascending player for us.”Also Read: Retired NFL Star Nick Mangold's Cause of Death Revealed
