Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has initiated the process to identify a construction agency for the proposed Jhansi Link Expressway.To be developed with a budget of Rs 5,002 crore, the 106-km-long expressway would be divided into two packages for speedy construction work.The link expressway would start from Phoolpura locality in Jalaun, where an interchange is going to be provided to facilitate the movement of motor vehicles from the Bundelkhand Expressway to the upcoming one in a seamless manner.Not only will the six-lane greenfield project bring down commute time between Jalaun and Jhansi but also improve economic activity in the overall Bundelkhand region since it is going to cover the defence corridor at Erach as well as improve accessibility in the BIDA (Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority) industrial cluster.The expressway would terminate at Ambabai, a village among the cluster of 33 villages in Jhansi under the jurisdiction of BIDA region and situated close to the Shivpuri-Gwalior national highway.Designed to handle a maximum speed of 120 km per hour, vehicle owners would get an option to get off at five major towns on the way. The overall right of way of the carriageway is going to be 110m, and the expressway is going to be ready within three years once the work is awarded to a construction agency, said officials.
Additional chief executive officer of the authority, Hari Pratap Shahi, said through local administration, land will be acquired in 28 villages in the two districts. The greenfield expressway would also provide better linkage to the popular religious site Datia and other towns in Madhya Pradesh as well.
