Jhansi Woman Thrown Off Terrace By Husband After Refusing Sex, Suffers Spinal Fracture

A 30-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi was severely injured after her husband allegedly threw her off the terrace when she refused to have sex with him, resulting in a thirty-foot fall and a major spinal fracture, police said.

The incident occurred in the Kotwali area under Mau Ranipur police station limits. The woman, identified as Teeja, is currently undergoing treatment at Jhansi Medical College. “I was forced by my husband, and later he pushed me off the roof. I want to live and fight back for what he did to me," she told PTI.

According to reports, Teeja and her husband Mukesh, both residents of Siyavari village, married in 2022 after being caught meeting secretly by family members. For the first year, their relationship was stable, but later Mukesh reportedly began staying away from home and would frequently assault her upon return.

Three days ago, Mukesh allegedly returned home and tried to force himself on her. When she resisted, he assaulted her. On Tuesday night, the situation turned violent again when Mukesh allegedly dragged her to the terrace and pushed her off. Villagers rushed to the spot after hearing her screams, while Mukesh fled.

Police said a case has been registered and the accused is absconding. “The victim suffered serious spinal injuries and was initially taken to the Community Health Centre before being referred to Jhansi Medical College for advanced treatment," said Vidyasagar Singh, in-charge of Kotwali Mau Ranipur police station
