Ranchi: Speculations were rife on Wednesday over resignation by Jharkhand Director General of Police, Anurag Gupta, though the state govt officials refused to confirm it.Calls and messages to officials in the home, police headquarters, and other govt sources were not responded to.Following news on various platforms, including television channels, BJP state president Babulal Marandi said that chief minister, Hemant Soren, must tell people why the DGP continued in the post though the Centre terminated his service in April this year.BJP Ranchi MLA C P Singh said he hoped that the DGP would not spend time in jail in the future. The state govt appointed Gupta as DGP (in-charge) on Nov 28, 2024. On Feb 2, the home, prisons, and disaster management department issued a notification appointing him as the regular DGP of the state, adding that he would be serving the post until further orders.
