With time comes maturity and so has my approach to Kiran Virani

Jiten Lalwani is the latest member from the original cast of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi to join the second edition of the show. He will be seen reprising his role as Mihir Virani’s brother, Kiran Virani.

Talking about returning to the iconic series, Jiten shares, “I am back on the show playing my favourite character, Kiran Virani, and I am quite excited about it. I am not at liberty to reveal much about the backstory or what lies ahead. I would like the audience to watch his track unfold. At the moment, Kiran is all alone and back in the Virani fold for Angad’s wedding. They asked if I would be interested, and I immediately said yes.

Although I am already doing another show, I decided to make some adjustments to be part of the second season of this iconic show.” Like his co-stars from the original cast, Jiten was thrilled to reunite with familiar faces and meet the new generation of actors. He says, “Of course, it was amazing to meet Smriti (Irani) and Amar (Upadhyay). When I joined the show, Gauri and HIten Tejwani were not there. Among the new cast, I know Rohit Suchanti quite well.

He plays Angad, and we have worked together before in Pehredaar Piya Ki. I also share a friendly bond with Shagun Sharma, so it felt great to reconnect with her after a few years.

It was lovely meeting the old team and equally nice to meet the new ones. It feels like the same show again. I felt truly happy and content.” Reflecting on portraying Kiran after 17 years, Jiten says, “With time, maturity comes naturally, even in real life. I am revisiting this character after almost 20 years, and as a human being, I’ve evolved. Earlier, I would react or speak too quickly, but now I pause and think before saying something. I wonder whether I should say it to my brother or sister-in-law or if I am being judgmental. So yes, there is a certain calmness and depth in Kiran now compared to before.

When you play the same character at 25 and again at 50, the difference is bound to show.”
