The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has extended the registration deadline for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) 2026 for admissions to Classes 9 and 11. Candidates can now complete the online application process till October 23, 2025, through the official website at cbseitems.nic.in.Earlier, the last date to submit the JNVST 2026 application form was today, October 21, 2025. The correction window for making necessary edits in the submitted forms will be available from October 24 to 26, 2025. During this period, candidates will be permitted to make changes only in specific fields, including area, gender, category, medium of examination, and disability status.The JNVST 2026 is conducted to facilitate admissions to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs), a network of residential schools aimed at providing quality education to talented students, especially from rural areas.
How to apply for JNVST 2026
Interested candidates can complete the registration process by following the steps below:
- Visit the official website of NVS at navodaya.gov.in
- Click on the link for “JNVST 2026 for Class 9 and Class 11” displayed on the homepage.
- Register using the required details to generate login credentials.
- Fill in the application form with accurate information.
- Upload the required documents and make the application fee payment, if applicable.
- Review all details and click on the “Submit” button.
- Download and print the confirmation page for future reference.

JNVST 2026: Exam date and duration
The entrance examination for the 2026-27 academic session will be held on February 7, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. Candidates with benchmark disabilities will be given an additional 50 minutes to complete the test. Admission to Classes 9 and 11 will be granted based on students’ performance in this entrance test.
JNVST 2026: Documents required
Applicants must upload and submit the following documents during the online registration process. All certificates will be verified by the student’s current headmaster or school principal:
- Recent passport-sized photograph
- Student’s signature
- Parent’s signature
- Valid photo identification (Aadhaar Card details)
- Relevant academic mark sheets
JNVST Class 11 admission 2026: Marks distribution
To qualify for admission, students must secure a minimum of 6 marks out of 20 in each of the five subjects, as per the NVS guidelines. The final merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the following subjects:
