Crystal Palace stakeholder John Textor is set to sell his shares at the Premier League club to New York Jets owner Robert Johnson to align with UEFA multi-club ownership rules following the Eagles’ FA Cup win.
Textor, who also owns a majority stake with Ligue 1 side Lyon opted to pass on his Palace shares to Johnson following the sides qualification to the UEFA Europa League. Reports placed Johnson’s takeover of 43 percent stake in the club around the £190m mark
“Crystal Palace Football Club can confirm that Robert Wood Johnson, ‘Woody’, an American businessman and co-owner of the New York Jets, has signed a legally binding contract to purchase Eagle Football’s holding in the club," a statement from the PL outfir read.
“Whilst the completion is pending approval from the Premier League and Women’s Super League, we do not envisage any issues and look forward to welcoming Woody as a partner and director of the club."

The 78-year-old Johnson is an heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical fortune and had a net worth of $9.2 billion in 2024, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Textor, who also owns a significant stake in the Brazilian team Botafogo, first invested in Palace in 2021.
UEFA’s decision regarding Palace’s participation in European competition is expected by the end of the month.
