Josh Allen had strict words for Bills fans after stunning comeback win over Ravens

Josh Allen pulled off one of the wildest comebacks of his career and the Buffalo Bills still had fans leaving early. The Bills quarterback rallied his team from a 15-point fourth quarter deficit to stun the Baltimore Ravens 41-40 on Sunday night in Orchard Park, N.Y.

The reigning NFL MVP scored twice on the ground, threw for two touchdowns, and made sure everyone knew afterward that he noticed who stayed and who didn’t. “Our team didn’t quit. I think there’s people that left the stadium. That’s OK. We’ll be fine. But have some faith next time,” Allen said on NBC’s broadcast.

Josh Allen’s 15 point fourth quarter comeback against Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens looked in control when Derrick Henry ripped off a 46-yard touchdown to push Baltimore ahead 40-25 with just over 11 minutes left.

Fans at Highmark Stadium started filing out. Then Allen went to work.He connected with rookie Keon Coleman on a tipped touchdown, crashed into the end zone on a one-yard run, and led a nine-play, 66-yard drive in the final 86 seconds. Veteran kicker Matt Prater sealed it with a 32-yard field goal as time expired.Allen completed 33 of 46 passes for 394 yards and two scores, adding 30 yards and two rushing touchdowns. In just the fourth quarter, he posted 251 passing yards and three total touchdowns.

It was the third time in team history Buffalo erased a 15-point deficit in the final quarter.Head coach Sean McDermott praised his quarterback’s mentality. “Josh, he’s always been like that though. He wants the ball in key moments of the game. That’s what the great ones, that’s their mindset. That’s what they want, that’s what they do. And he’s never out of it in his mind,” McDermott said.

Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry dominated early but Baltimore Ravens collapsed late

Lamar Jackson accounted for three touchdowns and kept Buffalo’s defense on its heels.

Henry bulldozed for 169 yards and two scores, moving into sixth all time for rushing touchdowns with 108. For three quarters it looked like the Ravens’ new offensive formula was unstoppable. That ended with Henry’s fumble, forced by Ed Oliver and recovered by Terrel Bernard with 3:06 left. Buffalo’s defense then held Baltimore to a quick three-and-out, giving Allen one more chance. The Ravens became the first team in NFL history to lose after scoring 40 or more points and rushing for 235 yards or more.

Teams with that stat line had been 277-0.“You just got to finish the game. It’s not over until there is zero, zero, zero on the clock. And we found that out tonight,” Jackson admitted. Henry did not hold back either. “I told my teammates after the game, put the loss on me. I own it like a man. Got lackadaisical and they made a play. If I take care of the ball, I feel like it would be a different situation,” he said.

What Josh Allen’s comeback means for Buffalo Bills and the AFC East

Buffalo rolled up 497 yards of offense on a night when their defense was gashed for most of the game.

It also happened to be the final home opener at Highmark Stadium before the Bills move into their new $2.1 billion facility next season.Allen tied Joe Ferguson for second in team history with 77 wins. He also became the fourth reigning MVP to produce four or more offensive touchdowns in Week 1, joining Thurman Thomas, Brett Favre, and Tom Brady.New teammates were stunned. “I’m like, in a dream right now. That was unbelievable,” Joey Bosa said.

“When you have Josh Allen, you just have to give him a chance, and anything’s possible.”The victory left Buffalo alone atop the AFC East after the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and New York Jets all lost their openers. Allen put it best: “It took everybody there. Just proud of our team for staying in it. No one on the sideline blinked. You got to play this game for 60 minutes.”
