Journalist V.V.R. Krishnam Raju, who had allegedly made derogatory comments recently against women residing in capital city Amaravati during a debate on Sakshi TV, was sent to judicial remand for 14 days by the Mangalagiri court on Thursday.
Another senior journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao, who moderated the television debate, had been arrested in the case a few days ago and sent to jail on judicial remand.
The police said that Mr. Krishnam Raju, the prime accused in the case, who had been absconding for the last couple of days, was arrested on Wednesday night and brought to the Nallapadu Police Station in Guntur. He was later taken to the Government General Hospital for a health check-up before being produced in the court, the police added.
The police had arrested the two journalists based on a complaint lodged by a woman from Amaravati, and an FIR was registered against them at the Thullur Police Station.
