HYDERABAD: The counting of votes for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election will begin at 8 am on Friday at the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy Indoor Stadium, Yousufguda. Polling was held on Tuesday, and the results are likely to be declared by Friday afternoon. Returning Officer Karnan said the process will open with the scrutiny of postal ballots, followed by counting of EVM votes. Votes polled across 407 stations will be counted in 10 rounds.

To speed up the exercise, the Election Commission has increased the number of counting tables to 42, up from the usual 14. This by-election saw 58 candidates (excluding NOTA) in the fray. A total of 1,94,631 votes were cast, marking a 48.49% turnout. For smooth conduct, 186 officials — including supervisors, assistants and micro-observers — have been deployed, with the Returning Officer monitoring the entire operation.
