Judicial custody of Zenito, seven others extended by 14 days

Mapusa: The Mapusa special court has extended the judicial custody of Zenito Cardozo and seven others by another 14 days in the case of the assault on activist Rama Kankonkar. The next hearing is scheduled for Nov 13.The court, while rejecting the bail application of Zenito in Oct, considered the threat to the life of Rama Kankonkar. The court observed that Zenito was convicted in the 2009 Siridao gang war case and that the Bombay high court noted he committed very serious offences. “The conduct of the applicant is very much material,” the court said, observing that several cases are pending against him. Police had later added stringent sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act, 1989, in the assault case.
