Jukkal MLA visits Nizamsagar project, monitors flood situation

HYDERABAD

Jukkal MLA Thota Laxmikantha Rao, on Thursday, inspected the Nizamsagar project, which had received heavy inflows due to the rains. The authorities had lifted the gates to release flood waters downstream.

Due to heavy rains in the Jukkal constituency of Kamareddy district, Mr. Laxmikantha Rao is closely monitoring the situation and alerting the residents of the downstream flood-prone villages. As a precautionary measure, people from the low-lying areas were shifted to safer locations and provided with necessary facilities.

Assuring support to farmers whose crops were damaged by the floods, the MLA has brought the matter to the attention of the government. He instructed officials to deploy police personnel and expert swimmers at streams, ponds, and culverts to ensure safety, and to carry out all precautionary measures. Roads that were damaged due to floods are being repaired immediately with the help of JCBs.

The MLA appealed to party cadre to take up relief activities across the constituency. A dedicated helpline has also been set up, and the administration has been mobilised to carry out relief operations effectively.
