Junior engineer of Panchayat Raj dept. arrested for accepting bribe

The Lokayukta police on Monday trapped and arrested Parashuram H. Nagarala, junior engineer of the Department of Panchayat Raj (Engineering Division), while accepting a bribe of ₹30,000 from a contractor at Shiralakaoppa in Shikaripur taluk.

The officer demanded a bribe of ₹70,000 to clear the bills relating to road development works in Sorab taluk. The contractor, Lingappa Shivappa Ullagaddi, complained to the Lokayukta police who trapped the official while he was accepting the cash and arrested him.
